Series count mainly determines voltage, while parallel count mainly affects capacity and available current. With the same cells, 2S is roughly twice the nominal voltage of 1S and 3S roughly three times; 1S2P keeps the one-series voltage while approximately doubling cell capacity. Match device voltage first, then capacity and load.

Match the device connection method. Use a button-top format when the battery compartment makes direct spring contact and verify dimensions and terminal height. For an internal plug connection, specify connector type, polarity, lead length, wire gauge and cable-exit direction.

Calculate average current rather than using only maximum power. Weight standby, active and peak current by the time spent in each mode, then estimate required capacity in Ah ≈ average current in A × target hours. Add margin for aging, temperature and conversion losses.

Nominal voltage alone is not enough. Check cell chemistry, maximum charge voltage, permitted current, protection circuit, temperature sensing, connector and polarity. The device’s charging IC must also support the exact battery configuration.

A physical sample or complete drawing is the most reliable input. Specify connector brand and part number, pinout, polarity, wire specification, length tolerance, cable-exit direction, heat-shrink or strain-relief requirements, sample quantity and any pull-test requirement.
