Custom Battery Pack Cost and Quote Guide

Hysincere LF12100N-B battery beside wiring, drawings and measuring tools in a planning scene

Custom battery pack cost depends on the configuration you need, the quantity you are ordering, and what the quotation includes. Changing a label or cable on an existing model involves a different scope from developing a new cell layout, battery management system and enclosure. Voltage and capacity alone will not give you a price that is ready for a purchasing decision.

Start with two figures: the production unit price and the total budget for getting the project into supply. At Hysincere, a reference model and a clear list of changes help us assess that scope. If you do not have a reference model, our custom battery pack service can start with the equipment requirements.

Separate the Unit Price From the Project Budget

Ask for the production unit price against a named configuration and an actual order quantity. Then check which other charges are included, charged separately or not applicable.

Cost itemWhat to confirm
Production battery packThe agreed cells, BMS, enclosure, wiring, assembly and routine checks, plus any accessories included in the unit price.
SamplesSample quantity, supplied configuration and agreed checks. Confirm any credit against a later order in writing.
Engineering and toolingThe design work, firmware changes, moulds or fixtures actually required. Ask who owns the deliverables and whether charges recur.
Additional testing and documentsThe final configuration covered, existing documents available, new work required and the party responsible for each charge.
DeliveryPackaging, destination, freight, taxes and the agreed delivery terms. Check whether these are already included elsewhere.

A practical budget calculation is: order quantity × production unit price, plus sample, engineering, tooling, testing and delivery charges that have not already been included. A blank line in a quote needs clarification; it does not mean the item is free.

For an allocation example, assume a one-time engineering charge of US$1,000. Spread over a first batch of 100 packs, it adds US$10 per pack to that batch’s budget. The quoted production unit price remains a separate figure. These assumed numbers explain the calculation; they are not Hysincere prices. For a reorder, confirm which work will recur before adding the fee again.

Why the Same Voltage and Capacity Can Produce Different Quotes

These Hysincere models share the same nominal voltage, capacity and energy. Their featured functions give a useful starting point for defining what belongs in a quotation.

Reference modelNominal ratingFeatured function
LF12100N-B12.8V / 100Ah / 1280WhBluetooth monitoring
LF12100N-SL12.8V / 100Ah / 1280WhSmart LCD display
LF12100M-BJ12.8V / 100Ah / 1280WhSelf-heating

The table highlights selected functions, not every difference between the models. Decide whether users need phone-based monitoring, a display on the battery, or a solution for cold-weather charging. For self-heating, specify the lowest ambient temperature, charging location and charging source. Cold-weather discharge and cold-weather charging are separate requirements.

Check energy as well as capacity. The LF12100N-B is rated at 12.8V and 100Ah, giving 1280Wh. The LF24100N-B is rated at 25.6V and 100Ah, giving 2560Wh. The same Ah rating does not mean the same amount of energy. Twice the nominal energy also does not establish twice the selling price, or make the batteries interchangeable.

Current needs its own check. The LF12100N-B product specification lists 100A maximum continuous discharge and a 200A peak for five seconds. A request for “200A” leaves out whether it is a brief startup load or a sustained demand. State the current, duration and frequency so the cells, BMS, connections and wiring can be assessed together.

Design Changes Can Add Work Beyond the Parts

A different connector may look like a small change, but it still needs the correct current capability, pin assignment, cable length and installation fit. A new enclosure can affect cell placement, insulation, mounting and the assembly process. These changes should appear in the quotation scope, rather than emerging after the sample is built.

For a robot or another connected device, “CAN required” or “RS485 required” is not a complete communication specification. Provide the protocol, data to be exchanged and any host-system requirements. Matching voltage and capacity does not resolve those integration details.

Hysincere’s development process includes requirements review, design confirmation, samples and equipment validation before the agreed production stages. Battery-side checks and the customer’s installation, startup, running and charging checks serve different purposes. Agree the drawing revision, connectors, communication and acceptance checks when approving the sample. The OEM and ODM battery pack guide explains how design responsibilities can be divided.

Documents also need to match the supplied configuration. For transport, ask which UN 38.3 test summary covers the battery type; a cell document should not simply be assumed to cover a finished pack. PHMSA’s lithium battery test summary guidance explains the purpose of that record. Confirm any additional testing against the actual design changes and destination requirements.

Compare Quotations Against the Same Requirements

Send the same requirement sheet to each supplier. If a proposal changes the requested cells, features, connector or test scope, ask for the alternative to be identified separately. A lower total can represent a different delivery scope.

CompareQuestions to resolve
Electrical specificationAre chemistry, cell model, capacity conditions, working voltage range, continuous current and timed peak current equivalent?
Functions and integrationAre required protection, monitoring, heating, communication, dimensions, mounting and wiring included?
Supply and documentationDoes the quote include the same accessories, drawings, configuration-specific documents and acceptance checks?
Quantity and chargesAre sample, first-batch and reorder quantities stated? Which engineering, tooling and testing fees are included or separate?
Commercial termsAre currency, delivery terms, destination, freight, taxes, payment, price validity and lead time comparable?
After-sales supportWhat does the warranty cover, what information is needed for a claim, and how will service or replacement be handled?

Keep the first-order budget and expected reorder cost separate. A one-time charge already paid should not be repeated if the work does not recur. Equally, an annual forecast should not be treated as a committed purchase quantity when the first order is much smaller.

Reduce Avoidable Work Before Cutting Required Performance

Start by checking whether an existing design meets the voltage, capacity and installation space. Retaining a suitable enclosure, mounting method or approved interface may reduce the amount of new work. Define the connector and communication requirements early, and confirm the sample version before placing the production order.

Select Bluetooth, a display or self-heating for a real operating need. Ask for optional functions to be priced separately where practical. Required current capability, protection and installation provisions still need to be met; removing them changes the suitability of the pack. Hysincere confirms minimum order quantity and lead time for the actual configuration, sample and test scope, and order quantity.

Send Enough Information for a Useful Quote

A short request can be enough to start if it identifies the decisions that affect the design. Send the following, with drawings or the current battery and charger specifications where available.

  • Equipment and operating pattern, plus a reference battery model if one is suitable.
  • Working voltage range, target runtime, continuous current, and peak current with its duration and frequency.
  • Available battery space, mounting, connector pinout and cable routing.
  • Charging source, charging conditions, ambient temperature and required monitoring or communication.
  • Destination market, required documents and agreed equipment acceptance checks.
  • Sample quantity, realistic first order, expected repeat demand and required delivery date.

For example, use LF12100N-B as the reference only if it is close to the application. List which parts of its configuration you want to retain and which must change. Without a reference model, describe the equipment instead. Ask for sample and production pricing separately, together with any additional engineering, tooling and testing charges.

Discuss Your Battery Pack Requirements

Send your project requirements to the Hysincere team with a reference model or equipment drawings. We can review the configuration and required changes, then define the sample, production and quotation scope.

Common Purchasing Questions

Can I get a price with only voltage and capacity?

You can start the discussion, but also provide the application and expected quantity. Any preliminary price needs a stated configuration. Confirm size, current, features and evaluation scope before treating it as an order price.

Does an existing model avoid development and sample costs?

It may reduce new design work when the model fits the equipment. It does not settle the cost of changes or replace checking the battery in the intended device. Agree the sample configuration, checks and applicable fees.

Are all certification and document costs included?

Confirm this in the quotation. Provide the destination and document requirements, then identify which existing files cover the final configuration and which additional work is needed. A general list of certificate names is not enough to define that scope.
